MATERIALS - IS:2062 E250 & SA 387 (For CS Plates)

        MATERIALS - IS:2062 E250 & SA 387 (For CS Plates)

A) IS:2062 E250

Generally, IS:2062 consisting different types grades some of grades of material as,

1          1)  IS:2062 E250A :
This type of grade having impact testing is not required and generally non pressure structural parts made from that type of grade. This grade may killed or semi killed.

            2) IS:2062 E250BR:
This type grade contain impact test as optional, as if required impact testing then this grade is impact tested at room temperature. This grade also may killed or semi killed.

          3) IS:2062 E250 B0:
This type of grade contain impact test is mandatory at 0 degree Celsius. This grade also may killed or semi killed.

          4) IS:2062 E250 C:
This grade impact tested at -20 (minus) degree Celsius. And killed.

Also, if required steel making from ladle refining, vacuum degassing, and these plates supplied in as rolled, normalizing etc. as per communication between purchaser & manufacturer. all plates free from lamination and other undesirable defects. When the test certificate generates its required to mentioned ladle/product analysis on MILL TEST CERTIFICATE. It is required to review Test certificate against actual required ladle/product analysis chemical values as per given code.

In this material specification impact test normally carried out having thickness, diameter greater than equal to 12 mm. The rolling & cutting tolerances as per codes. Such structural product mark with cast number/ heat number on each piece.
In other words the IS 2062 material is basically used for structural purpose. Now large number of vendors available in market who manufactured such type of material plates. As the grade is changes as per grade different specification consisting, also other grades available which equivalent to IS 2062 material but client approval for the same required before proceeding for manufacturing or in process.

  B) SA 387

This specification only use where client required specific requirements for alloy, chromium-molybdenum steel. This material is differ from ordinary material like SA 516 Gr. 60/70.

In this article we discuss above SA 387 material, this specification generally used for alloy steel, chromium-molybdenum made products having elevated temperature service.

Different types of grades include in this specification, different grades have different tensile strength and choose the specific grade as per requirements as per client. Sometimes for other specific requirements the supplementary requirements also use from this specification which depends on client.

The heat treatment, mechanical/ chemical properties, repair requirements etc. minimum acceptable criteria checked from ASME SECTION VIII DIV 1 SA 387 specification.

Material from this specification should be killed & fine grain in practice. Chemical as well as mechanical properties of given material required to checked and review the given material test certificate as per specification.Different grades of that type of material consisting different requirements which we can fine from this specification.
