 A) SA 106 Material For CS Pipes

       This specification covers the seamless carbon steel pipe for high temperature service. The size of pipe may specify in NB (Nominal Bore).Also the material test certificate consisting OD(Outside Diameter), Schedule, chemical/mechanical properties, hydrostatic test, length of pipe, process of manufacturing, heat no.,other tests,ndt testings etc.

          During inspection of pipe required to check physical checking, ovality, length, stencline marking of heat no. grade hydrotest pressure, ndt testings straightness etc. The hydrotest pressure mentioned in ASME SECTION 2 part-B SA 530 specification contain hydro pressure as per size size of pipe.
       The thickness of pipe changes as per different sizes of pipes for example, pipe having dimensions as
    3’’ SCH. XXS : 80NB X 88.9 O.D. X 15.24 THK.
    3’’ SCH. 80 : 80 NB X 88.9 O.D. X 7.62 THK.
            In above two dimensions of pipes same size OD also same only difference is that thickness change as per change of schedule as schedule change the thickness also changes, the selection of pipes for given purpose is on the basis of thickness.

      The generated test certificate must have proper heat/batch no., test certificate no.,material and all testing carried out as per code specification. The elongation, tensile strength, yield strength, hardness etc must mansion in mill TEST CERTIFICATE.

         This specification have three grades as SA 106 GR.A,B & C. In all these grades percentage od carbon is vary as 0.25,0.30 & 0.35 respectively. The dimensions tolerance is mentioned I this specification.  If client required any other special requirements then as per supplementary
requirements from this specification used for that purpose.
     
                The minimum pressure required to satisfy these requirements need not exist 2500 PSI for outside diameter of 88.9 mm or less & 2800 PSI for outside diameter above 88.9 mm as per ASME SECTION 2 PART B SA 530 specification.



B) SA 516 material for CS Plates



                                                   Generally  this code of specification consisting four grades as Gr. 55, 60, 65 & 70, the requirements & mechanical/chemical composition of these grades different as per different grades. ASME SECTION VIII DIV, 1 SA 516  code covers these codes. Plates made from this material may stressed relieved or not depend as per client and manufacturer or vendor agreement & requirements.If any other special requirements required that covers by ASME SECTION II SA20. The retesting methods, dimensions,marking, defects repair also mentioned in SA 20.

               The material shall be killed and confirms to fine grain size.Generally as per code the plates having thickness above 40 mm normalized as per code. One this is noted that if the thickness of plates below 40 mm & v notch testing required then plate material must be normalized as per code otherwise specified or communication between client and manufacturer or purchaser.

                 The required chemical/mechanical composition of elements mentioned in SA 20 & SA 516 of ASME CODES. Also the supplementary requirements like vacuum treatment, additional testing , NDT tests (UT, MPT & PT) is done on product ( material as per appropriate client requirements. Ultrasonic testing done below 50 mm thickness plates as per SA 435 & above 50 mm thickness plates done as per SA 578 level B.


                 The steel making processes, other test like (TTT) Through tensile thickness, heat treatments, chemical composition sampling, dimensions, notch toughness tests,retests, identification of plates etc parameter done as per ASME section II PART 1 SA 20 CODE of SPECIFICATION.
