NON-DESTRUCTIVE TEST (NDT)

                    NON-DESTRUCTIVE TEST (NDT)

In manufacturing area and all other Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) plays major role.
The main purpose of NDT is to guaranteed the equipment operates safely as design for specific appropriate working time, the hidden interior region of discontinuities and all that types of discontinuities find by NDT by using different methods.
The basic definition of NDT is to do all possible methods of detection, performance of the capabilities which do not impair there serviceability. Any test which we choose for given job which depends on material used for this appropriate job.
Non-Destructive Testing mainly done on job for following main reasons,
  1. To prevent accidents.
  2. To protect human life.
  3. To control the manufacturing process.
  4. To reduce and control the cost of manufacturing.
  5. To maintain uniform quality.

The main purpose of NDT is to evaluate and identified the properties of different materials without any damages. NDT is used in large variety with wide range of industrial activities by new NDT methods. In order to avide or reduce the economic loss the NDT find there application in different areas .
ASME SECTION II gives the procedure required for NDT processes also each NDT method have their specific acceptance criterion which is given in ASME CODES.
The destructive testing which can used to check the tastings like impact testing ductility, tensile testing but discontinuities and any kind of defects inside the material which only determine by NDT processes.

Today modern non-destructive testing perform on jobs/ material so that reduced and control the manufacturing cost.
