TYPES OF DISHED ENDS - Tori Spherical Dished Ends.
Tori-spherical Dished End widely used in pressure tangs for storage gasses, liquid etc. As per named shape of that type of dished end id spherical type. The diagrammatic view of Tori-spherical Dished end shown below,

The major
parameter used in Tori-spherical dished end is ID/OD (Inside Diameter/Outside
Diameter),CR (Crown Radius),KR(Knuckle Radius),S.F. (Straight Face), Height. In
case of 10% Type of Tori-spherical Dished End Calculation of parameters as per
below,
1) Crown Radius is 100% of ID
2) Height – 0.193 x I.D.
3) Knuckle Radius – 10% X I.D.
Blank Diameter for this type of dished end
is calculated by formula,
I.D. + 10 % OF I.D. + 2 x S.F.
The
shape of Dished End ie. Knuckle and Crown is measure by template. The other parameters
such as edge preparation of the dished end is as per code or client requirement.
As per other the Tori-spherical Dished end is made by cold dishing, flanging or
pressing. The difference between Ellipsoidal and Tori-spherical Dished is the
stress concentration in Tori-spherical dished end is not uniform as in Ellipsoidal
Dished End. Large nos. of vendor available now in market who manufacturing the different
popular sizes with different thickness of Tori-spherical Dished Ends.
